UNDER 8's DO YOU WANT TO PLAY FOOTBALL FOR YOUR LOCAL TEAM?
Crofton Juniors Under 8's are currently looking for additional players for the 2009-2010 season. We would be very keen to hear from players who already play or who would like to start playing. The Under 8's team is mostly made up of players going into School Year 3 in September 2009. We've just completed our first season, playing a number of friendly fixtures against local teams. Playing in the friendlies has allowed the kids to develop what they've learnt in training and enjoy the fun of football and the spirit being part of a team can bring. We train at the Sidings in Crofton on a Saturday morning between 11am and 12.30pm. Last weekend the teams finished completing in the West Yorkshire Summer League. The League culminated in a day at Frickley Athletic where we played our last two games of the season. One game, a cracking three all draw against Hemsworth Terriers, that had parents and neutrals on there feet for the whole match. Looking ahead to next season we already have a number of friendly fixtures arranged (starting from early September onwards) and plan to fill as many dates as possible so as to allow the team to experience the fun of football. We will play the majority of our games on a Sunday morning. The Under 8's are trained by coaches qualified to FA Level I and II standard. We have a fabulous team spirit, believe where possible in playing the game on the floor and having FUN!!! Our parents and supporters are the best and we strongly believe you would enjoy playing your football with us at Crofton, developing your football skills and making many new friends. U13's got off to a winning start this season with a 5-4 victory over Brierley Cubs. Jon Railton and James Hinchliffe linked up well up front and bagged three goals between them, while man of match Tim Gange tucked away the others. There were outstanding performances too from Ryan Giles and Kieran Barker.
u12s vs ThornesCrofton U12s put in a terrific defensive display against Thrones in the League Cup but were undone in the dying moments to lose out 1-0. The whole team never gave up in difficult conditions with right back Ryan Giles earning the Redbeck Man of the Match award. Submitted by Billy Jones
Under 14's V Ryecroft Crofton1 Ryecroft 1 The first group stage game of the Supplementary cup brought together Charles rice league two champions Crofton and league three champions Ryecroft. Crofton started the brighter but it was Ryecroft who took the lead with a good finish from the edge of the box. The game was end to end in the blustery conditions and both sides had chances before Crofton finally drew level through Josh Marsh. With the hosts having the wind behind them second half they were favourites to go on and win the game but despite having plenty of possession and going close through Andrew Nattrass, Marcus Howells and player of the match Sam Jackson, Ryecroft held out. There is no doubt their keeper should be playing in the top division, but we were not at our best today !
U12s vs St Josephs Crofton U12's poor season continued with a crushing 6-1 defeat to St Josephs. Crofton were excellent for twenty minutes but once they went behind St Joes stronger outfit took charge and ran away with it. Jordon Tolley scored Crofton's consolation with Jack Rochester and Callum Bethel taking Man of the Match.
